LESSON 17

Playing Rolls While Holding Chords (MP3 TRACK 27)

This exercise will give you practice in picking out various rolls with the right hand while you form chords with the left hand. This technique will appear quite frequently as you learn new songs.

The first exercise uses the Thumb In and Out Roll combined with the G chord (all strings open), the C chord, and the D7 Chord.

This next exercise uses the same chord progression while playing a Forward-Backward roll throughout.

Practice, using this concept, all the rolls you've learned so far and all the chords you've learned so far. You're going to find that, as you move into new songs, this will come in very handy!
